Women of Colors (WOC) play an essential role in advancing and showcasing research related to the Racial Disparities in Behavioral Health Care Grant. Their involvement brings invaluable insight, shaped by personal and collective experiences, to highlight the urgent need for addressing these disparities. By leading research projects, analyzing data, and advocating for policy change, WOC ensure that findings are grounded in cultural understanding and resonate with affected communities. Their contributions to this research help bridge gaps in care, create awareness of systemic challenges, and inspire solutions that promote equity and culturally competent practices within behavioral health care.
“Women of Colors has allowed me to have more of a community presence and has enhanced me as a leader. It’s helped me with being a leader in my church and has allowed me to experience different avenues in life. With the preparation I’ve had at WOC, it’s allowed me to expand and do things and see things I never thought I’d be able to do. The knowledge I’ve acquired, the relationships I’ve developed, the collaboration . . . it’s been incredible.”
