Education and Mentorship

Student and Future Technology (SaFT)

The SaFT program improves students’ understanding of science and math  concepts. With a Dow Promise Grant and a partnership with the First  Ward Community Center, WOC established the first zSpace 3-D Virtual  Reality STEM lab in the State of Michigan. Through the SaFT program, WOC  and its partners mentor more than 100 low-income students each year.  SaFT students develop valuable skills and knowledge through  project-based learning tasks. According to WOC’s data for first three  years, SaFT students achieved a 90 percent success rate and were able to  advance one level for every six class sessions

Scholarships

WOC funds annual College Scholarship Awards for deserving students  through the Saginaw Community Foundation. For more information, contact  the Saginaw Community Foundation at chamika@saginawfoundation.org or  989-755-0545

Dress for Purpose

Through this program, WOC offers development tools and opportunities  for young people to be successful and pursue their career goals. By  helping them to discover the confidence and power that comes from  believing in themselves, WOC empowers young people to achieve economic  independence and thrive in their future work experience. “Dressing for  purpose” means more than simply putting on a new outfit; it means  helping individuals feel their full potential
